How Do I Choose a Psychic?
I discussed this question recently with a woman who, like many people, had been frightened away from the psychic/intuitive community by an experience with a psychic who gave her information that wasn’t grounded in reality. In other words, it didn’t feel helpful, wasn’t something she could relate to in real-time, and the psychic didn’t share the information in an intelligible or helpful manner.
This leads into an issue that I think puts a lot of people off trusting a psychic reading: accountability. Sadly, many psychic or intuitive folks, while they find it easy to connect with the higher chakras and can express many powerful gifts, such as channeling and mediumship and seeing auras and such, may find it much more challenging to ground down into reality and relay that information in a meaningful and helpful way. The result is a reading that comes across as ego-based, doesn’t meet the client’s needs, and sounds like gibberish. Worse, the profession has gained bad press from those individuals who mislead people to believe they can predict the future. No one can do this, since the future does not exist yet. Run from any psychic that tells you they can predict the future.
So, if you still want a reading, how do you choose a psychic? Especially when many readings are done online or over the phone? Here are a few helpful guidelines when considering your next choice.
Ask for a phone consultation before you do your reading. Most psychics or intuitives will offer this free service as a “get to know you” before committing to a session. If they don’t, it should be a red flag.
Notice your body’s reaction—your gut sense—as you’re talking. Do you feel comfortable with the person? Do they answer your questions in a straightforward manner? If you don’t, or they don’t, they’re probably not the person for you.
Does the person use words you can understand, or are they throwing terms around that you’ve never heard before? Using spiritual lingo and quoting enlightened masters is exciting for some, but it’s not for everyone. They should be able to “read the room” and adjust themselves for your comfort.
The bottom line is that, no matter how long a person has been giving intuitive readings or what their level of psychic gifts, their clients should be able to trust them and comprehend the information that comes from their sessions. If you don’t feel that sense of comfort and trust with a person, whether they were recommended by a friend or you just found them on the internet, keep looking. As with a friendship or dating relationship, it can take some time, but the rewards of finding “the one” are well worth your trouble.
